Hamilton Pool was formed when the dome of an underground river collapsed, leaving in its wake a natural pool of extraordinary beauty. The best thing about it is that you can do more than simply admire the view, you can actually take a dip in the water – many Austinites do in in the summer. You might recognize this outstanding spot from several blockbuster movies too.

At the beginning of the 19th century, the caves were already an immensely popular tourist destination, and nowadays they are visited by 100,000 tourists per year.

    Glacier Caves, Patagonia

Parque Nacional Los Glaciares in Patagonia has some of the  most astounding glaciers on the planet, which you can observe from the outside, but from the inside too. If you ever wandered what’s it like at the heart of a glacier, you can enter the frozen glacier caves, huge cavities in the ice, formed by streams of water running through and under the glaciers.

Great Basin National Park is a place that you should visit at least once in your lifetime, especially since it is home to the utterly amazing Lehman caves, an underground wonderland like you’ve never seen before.

Far from being an inhospitable stone environment, these caves are home to several fascinating species that live out there whole life cycles there.

    Batu Caves, Malaysia

Batu Caves would be your run-of the-mill beautiful caves even if they didn’t house some intricate Hindu temples, but this way, they are a truly astonishing destination. The grottoes and limestone chambers shelter some wonderful examples of religious Hindu architecture. The main attraction is a 100 meter high vault called the Cathedral Cave, which houses colorful and ornate Hindu shrines.
