  • The most expensive hotels in the UK

Maybe you won the lottery, and you’re eager to spend your winnings on some swanky accommodation. Or maybe you just want to put your savings to good use by giving yourself a luxury vacation. Or…you just want to look around.

In any case, these very expensive British hotels are worth visiting, and especially staying in. In the UK, hotel owners are not wasting their time when it comes to achieving the perfect balance between opulence and comfort. So here are the most expensive hotels in the UK.

    The Dorchester, London

London is known to have some of the most expensive hotels in the world, so if you’re looking for the creme de la creme, the British capital is the way to go. The Dorchester is pretty much as high as you can get on the scale of luxury.

All the rooms have views over Hyde Park or the hotel’s landscaped terraces, and the suites are all examples of taste and elegance. The most expensive suite in the hotel, the Oliver Messel suite, is where Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor spent their honeymoon.

    The Mandarin Oriental, London

Yet another London hotel, this time with a classic flair. Pass by the hotel at night and you’ll be greeted with the sight of a five story Edwardian building doused in pinkish light. Most of the luxurious room overlook Hyde Park, but the rooms are not the best part of this hotel: the spa is. The Mandarin Oriental’s spa is among the 25 best spas in the world, and it offers a huge list of signature treatments.

    The Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh

The Balmoral is one of the most impressive landmarks of Edinburgh, inside and outside, overlooking the bustling Princess Street and the Castle. Despite the historic appearance of the building, the suites are decorated in a tastefully modern fashion, spiced up with a little something of Scottish heritage. The hotel’s restaurant is known to be one of the best in Scotland.

    New Hall Hotel, Birmingham

If you’d like to stay at a historic hotel dating back to the 13th century, New Hall Hotel is probably your only choice in the UK. New Hall is the oldest moated house in the country, and while parts of the original structure can still be seen, it was mostly remodeled in the Elizabethan style. Although it is located in the suburbs of Birmingham, the hotel is surrounded by 26 acres of parkland, and it feels just like you’re in the British countryside.

    One Devonshire Gardens, Glasgow

One Devonshire Gardens is mainly known for its celebrity guests like George Clooney, but it’s not the Hollywood attention that makes this hotel great. One Devonshire Gardens is made up of five townhouses built in the 1870’s, and it has about 50 rooms with a nice, historic feel. The hotel’s restaurant used to be run by celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.
