The most amazing beaches in the Mediterranean
If you are planning on spending your summer in Europe, you will probably want to do a great deal of sightseeing, but you will also probably want to take it easy for a while and just relax without a worry in the world. And what better place for some god old fashioned lazing than the beach?
The coasts of the Mediterranean have more pristine beaches than you could wish for. From secluded stretches of sand hidden away from sight, to popular beaches where there seems to be a party going on at all times of the day, there’s something for everyone on some of the most amazing beaches in the Mediterranean.
Taormina, Sicily, Italy
Close to Mount Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe, the small town of Taormina is located in one of the most picturesque regions of Italy. The scenic town, coupled with the sandy beaches, make this place a veritable tourist magnet. There are several beaches you can choose from in Taormina. Spisone is a small but charming beach, Mazzeo is larger and has very soft sand, and the spectacular Isola Bella, which you can access by cable car.
Thassos, Greece
The island of Thsasos has some very nice beaches, and has many quiet as well as lively spots, so basically anyone can find their dream beach here. There are plenty of tourist facilities on all the beaches of the island, but they didn’t lose their natural beauty. Golden Beach, 12 km from Limenas, is one of the most impressive beaches on the island, long and surrounded by green areas.
Tangier, Morocco
Tangier is one of the most fascinating cities in Morocco, and not only because of its historical and cultural attractions, but also because it has several lovely beaches. From some of the beaches, you can see the Strait of Gibraltar and the ships crossing it. Agadir Beach is one of the longest (stretches over 10 kilometers), and it is a paradise for watersports. Essaouria is the most family oriented beach, while Oualidia is more quiet and secluded.
Ayia Napa, Cyprus
Ayia Napa is not only the best nightlife center in Cyprus, but also the home of some amazing beaches. Like Ibiza, it is a bit of a party capital of Europe, but you can find places to relax too, if that’s what you want.
The beaches of Ayia Napa have silky white sands, and shallow blue water. The best are Nissi Beach, Makronisos Beach and the Grecian Bay.

One of the most famous towns on the French Riviera, Saint-Tropez has quite a reputation for attracting celebrities and the rich and famous. The waterfront is crammed with all sorts of expensive boutiques and cafes, but there is a great variety of beaches. If you want something secluded, go to Plage de la Briande, but other beaches along the Bay of Pampelonne are as lively as they can possibly get.
