    Ashford Castle, Cong, Ireland

This medieval castle built in the 13th century was turned into a five-star hotel, so expect for fork out some considerable sums of money if you are to stay there. However, the price of a room is worth it – the opulence of the decor is simply stunning. The long hallways and lavish dining rooms have a hint of the medieval in them, but they are incredibly luxurious. If you want to try your hand at some noble pursuits, you could take some falconry lessons.

Inverlochy Castle is, to put it simply, insanely and outrageously expensive. It will cost you almost $1000 on average to stay there, but what else can you expect from a castle that Queen Victoria described as one of the loveliest and most romantic spots in the world?

Inverlochy Castle is made of pure luxury and surrounded by some of the most beautiful Highland scenery in all of Scotland, so maybe it is worth the price after all.

    Chateau de Bagnols, Lyon, France

Chateau de Bagnols is one of the finest chateau hotels in France, and on top of that, it is nestled at the heart of a wine region. The 13th century castle looks nothing if not dramatic, with its moats, tower and drawbridge, and the interiors are over-the-top luxurious. You can sip a glass of Beaujolais wine while lounging in the castle’s park, and be waited on hand and foot by the staff while you make the most of your $600 per night room.

Castle Hotel Auf Schoenburg is one of the most affordable castle hotels in Europe, seeing as a night at the hotel will cost you ‘only’ around $250. This lovely castle is overlooking the small medieval town of Oberwesel in the Rhine Valley.

As long as you’re only looking at the castle from the outside, it will seem like you’ve been transported to the Middle Ages, but the lavish rooms will quickly make you appreciate the comforts of modern life.

    Castelletto de Montebenichi, Arezzo, Italy

The only thing better than visiting the Tuscan countryside is visiting it while you’re staying at a castle hotel in the Tuscan countryside. The castle’s hallways are full of medieval art – paintings, tapestries, and sculptures, while the rooms have amenities fit for the 21st century.
