Now that summer is finally here, it means that the beach season is open. And if you are preparing for a long season of beaches, lounging in the sun and swimming, there’s no better place to begin your sun-kissed holiday than the Caribbean.

The Caribbean islands have become synonymous with beaches (and pirates), and with all those miles and miles of beaches, how can you know which ones to choose? Half Moon Bay, Antigua

There’s a saying among the inhabitants of Antigua that there’s a beach there for every day of the year. Still, some are better then the rest (which says something, considering that they are all quite lovely), and Hal Moon Bay is definitely among the top beaches in Antigua. It is located in the south-eastern corner of the island, and it curves on a mile around a bay with crystal clear water. If you want some tranquility away from the crowds, this beach will be great for you.

Palm Beach, Aruba

Aruba is a famous island paradise, but nobody can prepare you for the beauty that awaits you at Palm Beach. It’s one of those beaches that manages to combine pristine natural beauty with a fun and lively atmosphere.

High rise luxury resorts line the beach, yet there are enough palm trees and vegetation to make you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere.

Cane Garden Bay, Tortola, British Virgin Islands

The two kilometers of beach that make up Cane Garden Bay are some of the most spectacular stretches of sand that you’ll ever see. The water is perfect for swimming (the water in the bay is protected by a reef), so it is a great place for swimmers as well as sunbathers. Party people will definitely get a kick out of the many beach bars in the area.

Seven Mile Beach, Negril, Jamaica

The golden Seven Mile Beach has got to be one of the most interesting beaches in Jamaica – as well as the longest. Although some might consider it a bit secluded, it strikes a perfect balance between peaceful and fun.

The beach is lively, but not so much as to bother those who want to spend some quality time with a book, for example.

Saint-Jean Beach, Saint Barthélemy

The best thing about Saint-Jean Beach is that it makes you feel like you’re on the French Riviera. All of the island of Saint Barthélemy has a distinctly French feel (it is an overseas territory of France, after all). Saint-Jean beach is famous for its white sands and calm waters – so it is the perfect place for swimmers or for those in the mood for some sailing.
