Beauty is supposed to be in the eye of the beholder, but when it comes to architecture and general atmosphere, there are a few cities in the world that are undeniably more beautiful than others. Since there are more cities in the world than one can possibly visit in a lifetime, there are surely some that we’ve missed, but we can wager a pretty safe bet on which are ten of the most beautiful cities in the world, that probably most visitors can appreciate.
1. Cambridge, England
Winding narrow streets, amazing parks, beautiful buildings and one of the most appreciated universities in the world are what make Cambridge part of this list. The new and the very old are combined harmoniously in this city, and you will never feel like the past and the present are clashing in some way.
2. Tokyo, Japan
Tokyo is exact definition of the neon urban jungle, and the sheer amount of lights and innovative architecture will surely fascinate those visitors who love everything that is modern. And to add some more charm, parts of the city are nostalgically traditional, like the temples and shrines.
3. Paris, France
Paris is the city of lights and romance, and its iconic buildings like the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, or Notre Dame make it an ideal place for any kind of holiday.
4. Cape Town, South Africa
The vast open spaces and large green areas of Cape Town, coupled with the astounding beauty of the scenery surrounding the city, have made many people consider it as one of the most beautiful in the world.
5. Sydney, Australia
Sydney does have a few buildings that attracted contradictory opinions (the Opera, for example), but the beauty of its harbor and the great views are certainly a plus. In autumn, the city bursts into color when the Jacaranda trees bloom with purple flowers.
6. Venice, Italy
Venice’s canals and historic architecture make it one of the most popular tourist attractions in Italy. If a bit of smell doesn’t bother you, admire the city while sailing in a gondola.
7. New York, US
New York’s amazing skyline is known even by people who haven’t visited it yet, and its historic buildings contrast nicely with modern wonders of architecture.
8. London, UK
London has been compared to a patchwork quilt, but the diversity of the city is one of its biggest advantages. Due t its long history, London seems a bit unstructured and hectic, but that’s part of its considerable charm.
