Top 5 nightclubs in New Orleans
The Big Easy is ripe with places where you can turn in for the night, but not to sleep, but to have fun! New Orleans is just one of those cities where sleeping seems like a waste of time. After a day spent exploring the French Quarter, visiting supposedly haunted cemeteries, maybe even taking a boat trip in the swamp, a couple of drinks are definitely a good idea.
Finding a nightclub in New Orleans is the easiest thing to do, but not all of them are great. So if you want to cut to the chase, you’d better go directly to the clubs that are certified awesome. Here are the top 5 nightclubs in New Orleans.
The Cat’s Meow
When it comes to karaoke clubs, the Cat’s Meow is iconic, to the say the least. Opened in 1989, it was one of the first clubs in the US that had karaoke, and fanatics say that it is one of the best (if not the best) karaoke club in the whole world.
Fact is that the Cat’s Meow draws a sizable crowd of tourists and locals who come not only for the wide selection of beer, but for the good, clean fun too. Even if you don’t feel like showcasing your vocal talents, you will most likely have fun at this club.
Pat O’Brien’s
Every city has a bar that all the locals know about and love, and in the case of New Orleans, it’s Pat O’Brien’s. The club first opened in 1933, and today it has five bars and dueling pianists. It is the bar that all those who have just arrived in the city flock to, so it is a bit touristy (in case you are bothered by that), but it is an experience that every visitor should go through.
Gold Mine Saloon
The Gold Mine Saloon is said to be the best dance scene in the French Quarter, probably because it is the perfect combination of cheap drinks, unpretentious atmosphere and 80’s and 90’s music.
There is no dress code, so you can cheerfully barge in after a day of sightseeing, wearing jeans and a t-shirt. If you like grooving out to oldies but goldies, this is the place for you.
Club Ampersand
Club Ampersand is located in the modern part of the city, and it fits very nicely with its surroundings. This sophisticated club is one of the best dance clubs in New Orleans, and it caters mostly to the well-off and beautiful. There is a VIP lounge, a huge dance floor, a balcony and a courtyard, and local and internationally known DJs provide the music.
