Croatia

Croatia

The wild beauty of Croatia’s beaches has not yet been taken over by high-rise hotels, and although some resorts are starting to turn touristy, there are over 1000 beaches off the Croatian coast – which means endless possibilities for a backpacker.

Cuba

Far from being the commie dictator-land that it is sometimes made out to be, Cuba is actually the best place for dancing and midnight revelries that don’t require much money.

You can easily get to Cuba through the Cayman Islands, and once you’re there, it’s enough to go out on the street to join the dance. Cuba is fairly affordable, beautiful, and has a fascinating culture that blends Hispanic and African roots.

Brooklyn, New York

Manhattan draws a lot of tourists, but it feels like there’s not much more that you can discover about it that you didn’t already know from movies and gossip columns. Brooklyn, on the other hand, is a genuine cultural mash-up that is much more affordable than Manhattan or other more upscale NY neighborhoods. Brooklyn seems to have a little piece of every imaginable culture on the planet, living in harmony and peace (more or less).

Mumbai, India

Mumbai is filthy rich and painfully poor at the same time, and it doesn’t seem to make any compromises, at least no in any obvious way. Whatever you’ll see in Mumbai, it will be impressive (whether in a good way or a bad way, it depends on you). Mumbai is teeming with people, it is colorful, exhilarating and shocking at the same time.

Luxembourg

The only remaining Duchy in Europe, Luxembourg is one of the richest and most developed countries on the continent, and that might discourage some backpackers from visiting it. But in truth, backpacking in Luxembourg won’t cost you more than other Western European country, and the historical and cultural sights are amazing and worth every penny you spend on them.

If I were to backpack in NY, I would surely have the food adventure. Different cuisines in big portions. Yum!! What do you think would be the least budget for a weekend there?
