For a long time, cruise ships have been a sign of pure and unadulterated luxury, and although nowadays cruises have become available to people who are not necessarily filthy rich or famous, there still are some ships around that like to preserve some measure of elitism.
Often, these are the most famous ships in the world, the ones that budget-conscious travelers can only dream of. Cruise ships that shower you with every possible amenity and comfort are the ones that are most talked about, and some are so well known that they’ve become the stuff of legends.
If you are intent on splurging and spoiling yourself or if you are simply keeping an eye out for some deals that will allow you to taste luxury for a small price, take a look at this list of the world’s most famous cruise ships.
MS Allure of the Seas
MS Oasis of the Seas, belonging to the Royal Caribbean International cruise line, is the largest passenger ship in the world, a title that it shares with its sister ship, the Oasis of the Seas. The Allure was launched in 2010, but it has already made a name for itself on the high seas, not only because of its impeccable service and luxury (if you can afford the fancy cabins), but also because it is capable of carrying a small town – the Allure has a capacity of max 6,360 passengers.
Norwegian Epic
Norwegian Cruise Lines has quite a few excellent ships, but Norwegian Epic is by far the largest and most impressive. The Norwegian Epic is not only high-class, but it also has some unique features like the only tube and bowl water slide on a cruise ship, a rappelling wall and even a bowling alley. All of the outside cabins have balconies, so you might even be able to find a reasonably priced cabin that has a nice view too.
RMS Queen Mary 2
Queen Mary 2 was the largest ships ever built at one point, and even today it is still one of the most glamorous cruise ships you could find. Serving over 40 ports in 25 countries, Queen Mary 2 is the epitome of what a cruise ship should be: beautiful, luxurious and shrouded in that allure of adventure that used to define the cruise ships of the past. The ship has fifteen restaurants and bars, swimming pools, a ball room and even a planetarium.
