  • The best UFO spotting sites in the world

The universe is a infinitely mysterious place, and while most people have it difficult to explore their own planet (that would be a lifetime’s endeavor after all!), others are busy searching the skies for signs and visitors from places beyond our solar system.

UFO sightings occur all the time, all over the planet, and whether they are hoaxes or real are up for debate. But if you like alien movies, sci-fi in general, or if you’re a ‘believer’, then why not visit some of the most famous places where UFO were supposedly seen? As far as wacky travel destinations go, these places are the cream of the crop. Here are some of the best UFO spotting sites in the world.

    Bonnybridge, Scotland

This small Scottish town south of Stirling is apparently one of the biggest UFO hotspots in the world, where over 300 flying objects are spotted every year, more than anywhere else on the planet. During the height of the X-Files craze, there were so many sightings in the area that the government was asked to conduct an official investigation, whose results were (unsurprisingly) inconclusive.

    UFO Trail, San Clemente, Chile

On this 19 mile trail near San Clemente in Chile there have been so many UFO sightings (which obviously attracted hordes of visitors) that the Chilean tourist authority made it into a designated trail.

Some of the most hardcore believers who visit the trail claim that the surrounding plateaus make excellent landing sites for the space ships.

    Wycliffe Well, Australia

Those who are convinced that Wycliffe Well is the UFO capital of Australia say that the town is so popular with aliens because it sits right on top of one of the Earth’s energy lines. Not only that, but Wycliffe Well is also the capital of UFO abductions. According to the town’s brochure, if you stayed up all night looking at the sky, you would be considered unlucky if you didn’t see at least one UFO.

    Roswell, New Mexico, USA

One of the most famous cases of possible UFO crashes of the 20th century took place at Roswell in the 1940’s. Ever since, Roswell has become somewhat of a place of pilgrimage for those who believe that the extraterrestrials are already among us, and the town has built an entire little tourist industry around the incident.

The International UFO Museum and Research Center is quite an interesting place even if you think all of the displays are hogwash.

    Mexico City, Mexico

Since the solar eclipse of 1991, when a UFO was purportedly caught on video in Mexico City, the Mexican capital has become Mecca for UFO fans – those who believe and those who don’t alike. Since then, countless more unidentified objects were seen flying over the city, as well as all sorts of mysterious lights.
