Jazz is probably one of the most typically American music genre ever to be invented, and like many other American invention, it gained huge popularity all over the world. Jazz can be heard in clubs from Asia, Africa, Europe, South America, but some jazz purists claim that there’s no better jazz than the one you can hear in US clubs.So if you are the type of person who likes to feel the groove every once in a while (or every day, even), it won’t be easy to choose the best jazz clubs in the US – because there are so many of them! So here is a list of our suggestions.
Blue Note Jazz Club, New York
The chain of Blue Note Jazz clubs was founded at the beginning of the 80’s, and since then, these clubs have become some of the best known and most respected jazz venues in the world. Apart from the New York club, other locations include Tokyo and Nagoya in Japan, and Milan, Italy.Many world famous jazz musicians have recorded albums at Blue Note, and in addition to the excellent quality of the music, you can also find some great cuisine at these clubs. The New York location is the original one, where owner Danny Bensusan put into practice his idea of creating a space where jazz lovers can see the finest musicians in the world.
Baker’s Keyboard Lounge, Detroit
Baker’s is the oldest jazz club in the world, and it has been functioning since 1934. It all started out as a sandwich bar, but gradually jazz musicians made the place into their main venue for live gigs. Many legendary figures of the genre have played at this club: Louis Armstrong, John Coltrane, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davies and the list continues.The club continues to maintain its high standards when it comes to the selection of the acts, so your eardrums will definitely be enchanted by some of the best jazz around.The place also serves food, and while the menu is much less impressive than the concert schedule, you won’t go hungry while jazzing.

Snug Harbor in Faubourg Marigny is probably the best jazz club in New Orkeans, which says quite a lot about it. The most famous local jazz performers in the Big Easy are regulars at the club, and international acts are also a semi-constant presence.The club was opened about 30 years ago, and it is housed in a beautiful 19th century building. The three rooms of the club (the dining room, the music room and the bar room) are the perfect combination of great southern food, jazz and drinks for an unforgettable evening.
