  • Five romantic places to get married

wedding scotlandIt is widely known that the day one gets married is one of the happiest and most romantic days of their lives. As such, it’s only fitting to celebrate it in a memorable place. Especially for someone who is used to traveling, wanting to  get married in a faraway place probably goes without discussion.

Although may celebrities are known for their weddings at Italian Castles or on exotic islands, regular people can also find unusual, amazing and much less pretentious places where they can have their dream wedding. So here are the most romantic places on earth where you can say ‘I do’ to your significant other.

    Kinnitty Castle, Ireland

Castle Ireland weddingMany private castles in Ireland are rented out for wedding receptions, and depending on the size, age and owners of the castle, the price may go up or down. But there is also the option of holding your reception in a castle hotel – it will be cheaper and the staff will already be there for you.

Kinnitty Castle in County Offally is a beautiful refurbished castle built in the 13th century. The hotel’s restaurant is in a beautiful Georgian style dining room, seating 60 people. If you are planning a small wedding with just your family and friends, this amazing castle in the perfect place for it.

    Orana Wildlife Park, New Zealand

orana wildlife park new zealandHere’s a good place for animal lovers to get married. Orana Wildlife Park is the only open-range zoo in New Zealand, located near Christchurch. The park has the feel of an African Safari, and your wedding can take place in a corner overlooking the giraffe enclosure if that’s what you want.

Orana has lots of beautiful landscapes, and it has a catering service for weddings, as well as personalized park tours for the guests.

    Mauritius

Mauritius is the archetypal exotic island, so if you want an exotic wedding but you don’t want to be too exotic for the sake of your non-traveler guests, Mauritius is a good choice. If a church wedding is not a must for you, just take your family and friends and get married on a beach.

It is free and casual, and you can hold the reception either in a bungalow or simply in one of the beach bars. If you want something more formal, you can always stay in a comfortable, air-conditioned hotel.

    Longfellow’s Wayside Inn, Massachussetts, US

martha mary chapel massachussettsThe Wayside Inn is one of the oldest inns in the states, having been established in 1716, along the Boston Post Road. The Inn looks charming and it still looks very much like 200 years ago, except that now it has all the necessary modern amenities.

This place if great if you want a historic wedding, and why not, even a themed wedding. The nearby Martha-Mary  Chapel, small, white and elegant also has the flavour of the past.

    Sheffield Wednesday football grounds, UK

If the couple are football fans, it can’t get much better than this. Not all football stadiums have the option of hosting weddings, so if you’re Manchester United fans it might be a bit difficult to secure the grounds, but Sheffield Wednesday’s stadium, Hillsborough, can be rented out for a wedding. You will have to hold your reception elsewhere, obviously, but you can say ‘I do’ in the middle of a whopping football stadium, with your guests cheering from the bleachers.
