  • Where to eat the best pizza in the world

Pizza is everyone’s favorite takeaway when you’re hungry, tired, and don’t feel like either cooking or eating something too fancy. The delicious pizza pies, now available all over the world, started out in Italy, but there was nothing that could stand against their domination of the culinary world.

Now, Italian pizza has quite a few competitors that sprung up in other parts of the world based on the original recipe, but always with some essential differences. There are as many types of pizza in the world as countries, cities and restaurants, but here are some possibilities as to where you can eat the best pizza in the world.

    Delizioso Cafe, Perth, Australia

When a pizza chef wins the Pizza Festiva, International Pizza Expo or the Best Pizza Challenge, you can be pretty sure that the pizza he makes is one of the tastiest in the world. This chef is Raffaele Brotzu, who owns the small Delizioso Cafe in Perth, Australia.

Pizza is sold by slices that cost between $4 and $6, with crisp base and delicious toppings. If you want to taste the pizza that won the world awards, try the three-mushroom-and-ricotta pizza (other award winning pizza may be seasonal).

    L’Europeo di Mattozzi, Naples, Italy

Naples is the spiritual home of pizza, and according to EU copyright laws, only the pizza made with Neapolitan cheese and olive oil is the real thing. Of course, pizzerias in Naples have much more than the original margherita pizza – with more than 1200 pizzerias in just one city, there has to be some variety. L’Europeo di Mattozzi is said to have one of the best (or even the best) pizzas in the city – and you should try the pasta as well while you’re there.

    Zuppardi’s, New Haven, Connecticut

It’s surprising that this New Haven pizza joint doesn’t have people standing in line in front of the door, because their pizza is simply delicious. Their clam pizza is simply exceptional, but it’s the sausage pizza that will take you to pizza heaven.

The crust is perfect, and the topping (generous bits of spicy sausage and a thick layer of mozzarella) are a great combination. They also have frozen pizzas that you can take home and bake yourself – they know that people can rarely get enough of their pizza.

Franco Manca Pizza, Chiswick, London, UK

Pizza lovers in London are raving about this restaurant, which is supposedly selling a pizza so delicious that you’ll lick your plate clean. This new pizzeria is really cheap, with the most expensive pizza costing £6, and there are only 6 pizzas on the menu. But what the joint lacks in variety, it makes up for in sheer taste, crispiness and aroma.
