Norway is one of those countries that you must vehemently visit because of its heritage and natural wonders. Although very expensive yet a destination that you will enjoy it and you can afford it if you really want to. Out of all Scandinavian countries, Norway has the most stunning landscapes.
I also consider Norway to be the finest among the Scandinavian countries because of its strong heritage. The country faced many eras in history. It is also one of the oldest still ruling kingdoms in the world, historically being established in 872 by small petty realms and the kingdom itself existed for more than 1.000. Like its neighbors, Denmark, Iceland and Sweden, Norway is also a Viking nation.
From 1661 to 1814 Norway was an absolute monarchy. The current constitutional monarchy of Norway was established in 1814. The state power is divided between the King himself, the parliament and the supreme court.
Despite not being part of the European Union, it shares close ties with the Union and the United States and is also an important member of NATO and Schengen. Norway is now the best democratic and wealthiest country in the world and people can enjoy the rights and everything that this fine country can offer.
Norway is easily accessible with all type of transport from bicycle to airplane. The country is also a member of OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development), WTO (World Trade Organization), the council of Europe, Antarctic Treaty and the Nordic Treaty.
5. Røros Mining Town

©Aslak Raanes/flickrThe tiny town of Røros in the province Sør Trøndelag with it’s population of 5500 souls is an outstanding example of an industrial-rural cultural landscape. This 17th century town has about 2.000 houses and a smelting house.
A walk through Røros is like a time travel. The places where for centuries mining and farming activities took place nowadays house modern workplaces. The people’s unique sense for tradition earned for this town a place among the Unesco World Heritage Sites.
It has also a beautiful small church. Many of these buildings have preserved their blackened wooden facades which gives a medieval appearance. This little town with considerable mining history is a must visit destination. Roros is very close to the Swedish border and the closest city is Trondheim.
For nature lovers there are plenty of activities, including husky sledging tours, visiting traditional agricultur sites (do not miss to try some of their food: “rømmegrøt” a sour cream porridge, Trout and salmon)
The best way to reach this tourist destination is by car (6 hours drive from Oslo or two hours from Trondheim) or trains from Oslo or Trondheim.
4. Nærøyfjord

©Kamil Porembi?ski/flickrYou haven’t visited Norway if you haven’t seen at least Geirangerfjord, however you have to hurry, because of the plans to lay electrical power lines across it. This will mean the fjord will disappear from the list of Unesco Heritage sites.
These Western Fjords are highly recommended to be visited by boat, as it will give you an unforgettable experience, however it is totally fine if you drive along the roads near the Fjords.
This Fjord is also known to have beautiful Norwegian villages and camping’s that makes this destination more fun and intriguing. Nærøyfjord like its counterpart is close to Bryggen.
Aurland is the main town that lies at Nærøyfjord.
It is a very beautiful typical Norwegian town that surely you will enjoy.
3. Bryggen

Although it faced issues like fire, its rebuilding always followed the traditional patterns and methods, making this whole place very well preserved. The town itself is lovely, vibrant and outstanding.
This city has also a modern part. The modern part of the city is considerable, since it has many great shops, cafes, restaurants that won’t make you dissapointed. The city is also known for its beautiful surroundings. The beautiful Fjords of Norway is also close to this city so no trip in Bryggen is fulfilled without visiting those amazing natural landscapes.
While Oslo, Alesund and Trondheim are beautiful in their own way, I consider this city to be the most beautiful with rich history. It is also very wealthy thanks to its professional merchants who take care of the city.
2. Urnes Stave Church

If you want to see natural landscape combined with Viking heritage, this is the place for you. The wooden church was built in the 12th and 13th century and it is an outstanding example of a traditional Scandinavian wooden structure. The church is also unique for its combination of Celtic, Viking and even Romanesque elements. The sight is known also for its exceptional landscape. The closest city from this destination is the Vibrant city of Bryggen.
Because of this churches history and background, you will experience the true Norwegian legacy.
1. Geirangerfjord

I consider this Fjord to be the most exciting. It does not only have amazing views and lovely boat tours, but also has wonderful campings and villages where you can enjoy your time and relax with pleasant sights and marvelous adventures. Alesund and Volda is the closest town from this exceptional Fjord. All these Fjords can be reached by most national highways or roads.
