  • Fashion Capitals of the World. Next Generation

When it comes to fashion capitals of the world, one cannot stop thinking about one (or more) of the big four: Paris, Milan, London and New York. Their importance in the world of fashion (and especially haute couture) is undeniable: here you can find the most innovative designers, prestigious fashion houses and glamorous boutiques.

But this doesn’t necessarily mean that all the world’s fashion is concentrated in these four locations. Slowly but throughly, other big cities from around the world are building their way up to top five, releasing original creations on the market and welcoming visitors with posh boutiques and one-of-a-kind fashion shows. In today’s top five we have included some less known fashion capitals that have all the chances to become the 5th on the list:

    Dubai

Every spring, the architectural marvel that is Dubai reunites the best designers form the Middle East during an exclusive event: Dubai Fashion Week. Combining the softness of silk with the bright colors of the Orient and discrete western influences, the event is a great opportunity for young designers to show off their creations and for fashionistas to seek inspiration in Asia’s long fabrics tradition.

    Tokyo

The capital of Japan is considered by many as the most likely to climb to the 5th rank. Although Tokyo does have its fashion week and boutiques, this is merely the reason behind the city’s fame.

Tokyo’s street fashion is like noting you’ve ever seen: it’s enough to stroll the streets in order to discover the most uniques styles, from the classical school girl to the popular lolita, visual kei or cosplay. The Japanese have also created their own successful brands, like Issey Miyake, Stars Shine Bright or Evisu.

    Sao Paulo

Famous for its tanned models, colorful bikini and superb beaches, the exotic Brazil is a must for every fashion lover. The widely acclaimed Fashion Week takes place twice a year in the city of Sao Paulo, and has recently began to capture the attention of famous brands like Chanel or Versace.

    Moscow

The glittery and extravagant fashion industry seems to fit Moscow like a glove. Here in Russia’s crowded and utterly expensive capital you will able to shop for basically any brand.

The Muscovite women are famous for their elegance (going casual is not something they do on a daily basis), so if you want to keep up, you’d better pay a visit to some popular shopping areas like Petrovka Street, Barvikha Luxury Village or Okhotny Rad.

    Sydney

In the latest years, Sydney has been bustling with fashion events. But if you are curios about what the Aussies have to say when it comes to fashion, then Sydney Fashion Festival will get you right to the source. Between the 23rd and 28th of August, fashion enthusiasts all over Australia will be joining the eclectic crowd at the city’s Town Hall. There event will also feature a fund raising campaign, lead by UNICEF Australia.
