Playa de las Catedrales
The top 5 Spain beaches are just as extraordinary as they are definite must-sees for everyone who goes there. Just 3 days ago we were posting an article regarding Italy’s top beaches and giving you a few suggestions on where you can find the finest sand and most beautiful views. You might find plenty of arguments on the web according to which Greece, Italy or even France is the beholder of the best beaches in Europe, but let us not forget that the marvelous beaches is among the top 3 reasons why Spain is such a major tourist destination.
And let us not forget that only the Canary and Balearic archipelagos alone are some of the most popular summer destination in the whole Europe. With poetic names like Costa Verde, Costa del Sol, Costa Tropical or Costa Blanca, the shores of Spain take the most surprising forms, thus forming an amazing variety of beaches. Today we will only focus on 5 of them, those that are, in our opinion, some of the most scenic in the whole country:
Cala de Algaiarens, Menorca
Menorca
The Balearic island of Menorca makes a great destination for anyone interested in exploring its rugged shores on his own. Many if its beaches are called ‘calas’ (‘cala’ is the Spanish equivalent for ‘cove’), as here, the power of waves gave birth to a plenitude of caves and coves. If you are not an experienced swimmer, you might find the access to these well-hidden beaches to be a little too difficult, but once you will see the spectacular Cala de Algaiares, you will know why so many people are attracted by these places.
Playa de Las Catedrales, Galicia
Speaking of coves and rock formations, one of the top 5 Spain beaches and an absolute must-see is Playa de Las Catedrales. In a free translation, Playa de las Catedrales would be the ‘Beach of Cathedrals’, and the truth is that the resemblance between these naturally shaped rocks and the arches of a Gothic cathedral is quite astounding. The beach is only 10 kilometers away from the town of Ribadeo (Galicia) and is known among the locals as ‘Praia des Augas Santas’ (‘Beach of the Holy Waters’).

Playa de Silenzio
The historic town of Oviedo was given a new boost with the release of Woody Allen’s latest success, named “Vicky, Christina, Barcelona”. Not far from Oviedo (which is itself relatively close to Barcelona), you will find the Beach of Silence (Playa del Silencio), probably named like this for its remote location (a circular rock formation harbors the narrow strip of sand from unwanted visitors).
Marbella, Andalusia
Located in south-eastern Spain, in the region of Andalusia, Marbella beach gwill show you a totality new perspective over Spanish beaches. This is the most exotic region of Spain, where Moorish influences can be seen at each step, and where the wide beaches are guarded by palm tree alleys and medieval fortifications. Marbella is also popular with a number of Hollywood stars like Sean Connery, Antonio Banderas or Dolph Lundgren.
Moro Jable, Fuerteventura
Encompassing 3 natural parks and 6 main beaches, The Island of Fuerteventura in the Canaries is an ideal tourist destination. As for its famous Morro Jable beach, we can only say that it represents the very idea of a perfect beach: over 4 kilometers of the whitest, finest sand, caressed by clam waves and bordered by numerous hotels, restaurants and entertainment facilities.
