    Prague, Czech Republic

Prague’s New Year’s Eve tends to be quite wild, with huge firework displays over the castle and the Vltava River, as well as hand-held fireworks brought by the revelers. The parties go on in Wenceslas square and other parts of the city until the next morning, but if you don’t want to mingle with the crowds, you can spend the night on a lavish cruise on the Vltava.

    Reykjavik, Iceland

In Iceland, New Year’s Eve is one of the longest and darkest nights of the year – daylight lasts for a scant four hours, and the rest of the day is dedicated to celebrations.

Typically, people would start with a church mass early in the evening, and then have a meal with friends and family, but afterwards the party truly starts on the street of Reykjavik around bonfires and with fireworks.
