    Adelaide

    Adelaide

The wild expanses of Australia’s outback are quite sought after by adventure travelers and nature lovers, but although Australia is famous for its amazing natural landscapes, it has quite a few impressive urban landscapes to show off as well. Despite the wide open expanses of bush, outback, desert and beach, Australia is actually one of the most urbanized countries on the planet.

You can find any type of urban area in Australia, starting with sleepy, scenic towns off the beaten path, to buzzing metropolises where the flurry of people and cars never quite stops. So if you want to take a quick dip into the cities of Oz, here are some of the best urban travel destinations in Australia.

    Adelaide

If you don’t want to jump in directly into the hubbub of  the biggest cities, then you can start your trip in Adelaide, a calm, southern city full of green spaces, stylish architecture, lots of shops, cafes and restaurants and nice beaches.

Adelaide has a huge population (almost a million inhabitants) but it feels much less crowded than the other biggest cities in the country. Adelaide has plenty of attractions, both cultural and historical, and it has some famous cafe strips.

    Darwin

The tropical capital of northern Australia is not all that big, but it is very cosmopolitan. Several dozens of different ethnicities live together in Darwin, which gives the city a unique multicultural atmosphere. Everything in Darwin seems very relaxed, even the bustling Asian markets and the cafes, beaches and parks .

    Hobart

The capital of Tasmania was the second convict settlement in Australia, and today it is a small and elegant little town that doesn’t even compare in size with the cities of the mainland, but it is more than enough competition when it comes to charm and touristic potential.

Hobart has some fine examples of Georgian and Victorian architecture, as well as several intersting museums and some unusual attractions (a chocolate factory, short cruises, mountains and historic estates).

    Sydney

For some busy Australian city life, you should take a trip to Sydney, the largest and oldest city in the country, whose picturesque harbor is one of the best known sights in the world. Every traveler, without exceptions, will find something to do in this cosmopolitan city teeming with nightlife, culture, history and attractions of all kinds.

    Brisbane

Brisbane is a genuine new world city with modern, clean-cut architecture, a positive attitude towards life and vibrant, friendly atmosphere. Brisbane’s attractions range from quaint and whimsical to downright jaw-dropping, and in addition to some great urban sights, let’s not forget the sandy beaches surrounding the city.
