    Prague, beautiful and mighty

The capital of the Czech Republik is the most widely known tourist attraction in the country, and rightly so. Prague is not only the most beautiful city in the Czech republic, but one of the most amazing ones in Europe. Prague architecture, its nightlife, cultural life and whole atmosphere are powerful tourist magnets, and few people can resist visiting it (and revisiting it) when in Central Europe.

And the good thing about this city is that it is very budget friendly, so backpackers can easily visit it without worrying about their funds. So if you’re a backpacker planning on visiting Central Europe, here’s a backpacker’s guide to Prague.

    Transport

The quickest way to Prague is by place, naturally, and there are lots of airlines that offer flights to the Czech capital. However, if you want to save some money and see the country while at it, you should opt for traveling by train. The whole of the Czech Republic is well connected to Europe’s railway network, and second class tickets can be very affordable, especially if you have a Eurail pass or something similar.

Hitchiking is also an option, as the country has dense traffic and the local drivers are friendly. Once you’ve arrived in Prague, public transportation is quite convenient, but the city is very walkable anyway, so you won’t have to rely much on other means of transport than your own feet.

    Accommodation

If you’re planning on staying at a hotel, in high season is next to impossible to find anything affordable. However, if you’re fine with staying in hostels with dorm rooms, you can easily find hostels with rates of less than $20 per night even in peak season.

Many hostels are close to the city center, and if you haven’t booked a room before coming to Prague, you can find a hotel/hostel booking agency at the Hlavní nádraží train station. In both hotels and hostels, you will usually get free breakfast and internet access.

    Food

Although there are pubs and cheap restaurants aplenty in Prague, if you want to go for the most budget-friendly option, stick to fast-foods, which is not as bad as it sounds. The most touristy streets are usually full of street vendors selling Czech style hot dogs, which are delicious (French baguettes hollowed out and filled with mustard and ketchup, with the frankfurter in the middle).

The streets of the old town have lots of pastry stalls where you can find traditional pastries which are very good and come both in sweet and savory varieties (try the trdelnik, a traditional tube-shaped pastry).

I think that the most people forget to recognise that prague is not only nice city center but also beatifull city edge. For example you can visit central park – http://www.praguesecrets.eu/hurka-central-park.php in Prague on the edge. Most people do not know it.
