  • Top 5 best zoos in the world

Most people used to like going to the zoo when they were kids. Kids like zoos indiscriminately, but adults might have concerns about the conditions in which animals live and how they are treated. A good zoo is not necessarily a zoo with the most numbers of species, but where the animals are treated right – after all, seeing happy animals is much better than seeing sad, listless ones.

If you’re wondering which are the best zoos in the world, which would most likely be pleasant to visit if you are interested in animals, then here are our suggestions.

    Tiergarten Schönbrunn, Vienna, Austria

Tiergarten Schönbrunn is possibly the oldest zoo in the world, founded in 1752 as a menagerie belonging to Emperor Francis Stephen. The zoo has been involved in various actions for the conservation of nature and protection of endangered species.

It has many exciting features, and some of the most stunning sights in the zoo are its very own rainforest and desert houses, a huge aquarium, and a very interesting polarium.

National Zoological Garden, Pretoria, South Africa

Pretoria Zoo first opened in 1899, and although it started out small, today the zoo has over 400 mammal and bird species, 100 reptile species, and 200 marine species spread out throughout the 200 acre garden. Visiting the zoo during the day is a great experience, but it’s even better if you stay for an all-night camping and observe the animals at a time of day when they can’t be seen in other zoos.

    Bronx Zoo, New York

Bronx Zoo has an extraordinary involvement in environment and animal protection, so you can imagine that they take special care of their animals. With over 4000 animals, Brox Zoo is one of the largest and most diverse in the US. Some of the best features of the zoo are the Tiger Mountain, the Congo Gorilla Forest, and the Wild Asia Monorail.

    Singapore Zoo, Singapore

Although Singapore Zoo hasn’t had that much time to find its bearings (it was founded in 1973), it is one of the most well organized and impressive zoos in the world.

As an open-zoo system, there is more opportunity to get close (as close as safely possible) to the animals, and you can even have breakfast with them (the Jungle Breakfast tour – enjoy your breakfast and feed the animals).

    Zoo Praha, Prague, Czech Republic

The Prague Zoo is one of the largest in Europe, boasting of 111 acres housing around 4600 animals of 630 different species. The zoo has great atmosphere and great exhibits – some of the best are the Monkey Island and the Indonesia Jungle.
