Angkor Wat, Cambodia
The long forgotten temple complex at Angkor has been buried under the jungle for centuries, and it is simply one of the most stunning places on the planet right now.The Angkor Archaeological Park contains the ruins of several capitals of the Khmer Empire from the 9th to the 15th centuries, as well as the largest pre-industrial city in the world. Angkor Wat is the largest and most beautiful temple in the complex, and a symbol of Cambodia.
Bagan, Myanmar
Bagan is the home to the largest pagodas, temples and stupas in the world, and some of go as far back as the 11th century. Each building was constructed with care and attention to every little detail – an each part of every building has a spiritual meaning. The holiest temple, Ananda, is the most significant Buddhist building in Myanmar.Sukhothai Historical Park, Thailand
The ruins of Sukhothai, the ancient city of the ‘dawn of happiness’, was the capital of Siam in the 13th century. Another beautiful ruin in the park is the city of Si Satchanalai. In both cities, the architecture is very well preserved and it is easy to glimpse some of the former glory of Siam. Rent a bike at the park entrance and visit these impressive ruins.

Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka
The ancient city of Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka is one of the former capitals of the country, and a prime example of Lankan architecture.
The city was mentioned in the 4th century BC, so its age its pretty impressive, and considering all the centuries of neglect since it was abandoned, it is in pretty good shape. There are many other ruins around the city, although some of them don’t attract much attention, despite their beauty.
