  • Top five cruise ships for 2010

The last 2 years haven’t been quite the most glorious times for the cruising industry: many cruise operators have struggled to remain on the surface. Bu times of crisis also times of innovation: in their attempt to attract as many customers as they can, cruise lines not only lowered their prices (and consequently became accessible to a new category of customers), but managed to come up with all kinds of new additions like  state of the art entertainment facilities, freestyle cruising, on-board spa centers etc. Cruise operators are also manifested a tendency to specialize in all kinds of niche domains: some focus more on entertainment, others on the quality of food, sports or privacy. Whether you are looking for a romantic escape or a fun family trip, here are some of the best cruise ships that you can try for 2010:

    Celebrity Solstice

Since its launching in 2008, Celebrity Solstice has established itself as a veteran in pampering its passengers. With the inauguration of Celebrity Solstice, Celebrity Cruises have also launched a new luxury class. The Aqua Class staterooms include, among many others, balcony cabins, unlimited access to the spa, wellness programs and freshly cut flowers. Celebrity Solstice is also one of the few cruise ships where one can find a real grass surface, topless sunbathing areas and yoga classes.

    Cristal Serenity

Cristal cruises represent an exclusive, top class cruise line, that operates only two cruise ships, Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony. Cristal Serenity is the largest between the two, and it is equipped with all the possible facilities of a luxury cruise ship. If your definition of a perfect sail includes fancy dining rooms, refined dishes and intensive piano lessons, than this is the cruise ship that you want to be on.

    Norwegian Jewel

With and impressive fleet and the most various destinations, NCL is one of the biggest cruise operators in the world. Their Norwegian Jewel is among the first cruise ships that were especially designed for freestyle cruising (freestyle cruising a relative new concept that allows you to make your own schedule on board: no dinner reservations or planned activities). Another strong point of this ship is represented by the numerous bars and pubs, kids facilities and world class spa center.

    Oasis of the Seas

The Oasis of the Seas is the cruise ship that gave a whole new dimension to the phrase “cruising big style”. So far, this Royal Caribbean giant is not only the world’s largest passenger vessel, but also the most innovative. Especially designed for the passenger’s entertainment, the ship incorporates an impressive living plant garden, a science lab, a shopping ‘promenade’ and also the biggest amphitheater at seas.

    Paul Gauguin

The Regent Seven Seas Paul Gauguin ship is among the few big vessels that can take you to the paradisaic islands of Tahiti and Bora Bora. Not only you will experience some of the most beautiful  landscapes on earth, but this ship is also a master of water sports: windsurfing, scuba diving and snorkeling amateurs will be in heaven.
