More often than not, traveling is a great way to relieve stress, and to relax your mind and sometimes your body. What most people look in a successful holiday is fun and excitement, but sometimes you just feel like slowing down, taking a deep breath and enjoying life’s small pleasures.

Beaches or other popular destinations are great if you’re in the mood for partying, but if you just want a holiday for the spirit, a quiet place and some spectacular sights are best you can do. Here are some great travel destinations for spiritual holidays.

Rara Lake, Nepal

Rara Lake is the largest lake in Nepal, and it is located in Rara National Park. Nepal is full of amazing natural sights, but the majestic expanses of Rara are one of the most exhilarating landscapes you’ll see in the country. The lake is located at 3200 meters above sea level, surrounded by a picturesque mountain scenery. Breathe in the fresh air, and enjoy some time away from the madding crowds.

Auyuittuq National Park, Canada

Auyuittuq, the land that never melts in the Inuit language, is one of the largest and most desolate parks in Canada. There is little vegetation in Auyuittuq, and therefore little wildlife, but what little can be found is really worth looking at.

You can see rare or interesting plants like Mountain Avens, Campion or Papaver. Go on a backpacking trip through Akshayuk Pass, along the Weasel and Owl rivers, and enjoy the beauty of nature.

The Great Wall of China, China

Ancient man-made wonders like the Great Wall are always surrounded by a mythical and mysterious atmosphere, and even if you won’t be the only tourist admiring the craft of people long gone, it’s very easy to lose yourself in a reverie when looking over the green hills rolling at the foot of the wall. Sights such as these really make you think about the great things that humans can achieve when they put their minds to it.

Tiger’s Nest, Bhutan

Even if you are not a spiritual person, you can hardly be unmoved by the sight of the exquisite monastery perched on top of the dangerous cliffs in the Bhutanese mountains.

The Tiger’s Nest is one of the most beautiful and also remote Buddhist monasteries in the world. The monastery complex is a deeply spiritual place, and many people come here to meditate and admire the beautiful scenery.

Cliffs of Moher, Ireland

The Cliffs of Moher are without a question one of the most awe-inspiring sites in Ireland, and that’s not a title that’s easy to achieve. The tall, jagged cliffs drop hundreds of feat into the foamy waters of the Atlantic, and there is no better place that will make you realize how vast the ocean actually is. Standing for the fist time on the edge of the cliffs is a once in a lifetime experience.

I would definitely include Uluru (Ayers Rock) in Australia into this list. It is an amazing place to admire the spirit and the greatness of Earth.
