  • The Five Wonders of Las Vegas

Regardless to your artistic tastes, studies, age, marital status or nationality, Las Vegas is something you have to experience at least once in a lifetime. Some call it ‘Sin City’ and say it’s kitschy, promiscuous or superficial, others name their children after its resorts and would give anything just to have the chance to come back. Vegas wasn’t designated the ‘entertainment capital of the world’ with no reason: here you can watch the best comedy shows, see the most creative magicians and be part on the enormous on-going party that is Las Vegas itself. It’s hard not to feel overwhelmed when seeing Bellagio’s singing fountain, New York New York’s rollercoaster  or the Stratosphere Tower for the first time. This is why I’ve put together for you this short guide with Vegas’ coolest and most popular resorts.  (By the way: Vegas casinos actually make an entire resort, with hundreds of hotel rooms, pools, clubs, restaurants and gambling machines – for some general facts and useful travel tips about Vegas take a peek at this Las Vegas Travel Guide.)

  • Warsaw on a Budget

    city_Warsaw_Poland

When you land on Warsaw’s Frederic Chopin airport and take a cab to the city center, you notice immediately that you arrived in a big city. Modern sky-scrappers surround the grim and nostalgic Palace of Culture and Science, once the tallest building in Europe. Huge shopping centers, neon ads spelling ‘Marriot’ or ‘Hilton’ and the rumble of cars might scary those who expected to find the same capital from communist times.

Getting around Warsaw is not too difficult (for details on the city’s transportation network, check out this Warsaw Travel Guide); but like any major touristic destination, Poland’s capital has its tourist traps and can get pretty expensive.  In Warsaw you must know exactly what you want and where you’re heading from (otherwise you might ending up spending half an hour just to figure out how to cross the street).  If you’re a student or traveling on a budget, but are still want to see as much as you can from Warsaw, you might find this brief ‘Warsaw on a budget’ guide useful.

  • Cool Underground Fests Around the World

It can be quite refreshing and intellectually stimulating to attend, from time to time, some less conventional manifestation. In the modern world, we name these less formal events “underground festivals”. Underground fests are a good opportunity to get familiar with some new ideas, meet some interesting people and see today what will be tomorrow’s trend. However, underground is not a synonym for ‘esoteric': yes, it might address a certain audience or focus on some unorthodox topic, but everyone can join or contribute. With each edition, these fests are becoming trendier and trendier (although it’s hard to say when an underground fest has gone mainstream). So far, we managed to make selection of the most popular alternative fests, no matter what their theme is.

Romania’s touristic potential is still insufficiently exploited, but the undeniable value of some Romanian monuments has surpassed the efforts made by the local travel industry.  Therefore, not only have Romanian churches become part of the universal patrimony, but there are numerous tourists who come to Romania with the only purpose of seeing these masterpieces of traditional architecture.

  • Best Ski Resorts in South-Eastern Europe

It would be unfair to say that South-Eastern Europe can compete in terms of first class ski resorts with countries like Austria, Germany or Switzerland. On the other hand, going to South Eastern Europe for a winter vacation can mean many other things: getting to know new cultures and take part in different winter traditions, encourage local economy and, most of all, try something new. It’s hard to say if these South-Eastern European winter resorts are less crowded than the Alpine ski slopes, but each of them has that little something that makes it distinctive (not counting some pretty decent rates). From the Balkans to the Carpathians, this article will guide you through what we consider to be the best ski resorts in South Eastern Europe:
